Christmas 2013

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. This season was very short for us, with Sean putting all his school work off until the last three weeks, we pretty much missed out on all the holiday fun. However Christmas day was wonderful and very long. Santa left quite a loot considering his financial shortage this year. Thanks to my parents, who helped out in a HUGE way, they all pretty much got what they wanted.

Unfortunately for me, Christmas Day was where my complications began, but I'll get to that later. Due to the crazy amount of gifts to open, we had to keep taking breaks between present opening. It was all very overwhelming for Lizzie and Sam. We had a few meltdowns throughout the day. Nothing too serious. Of course A Christmas Story was our background, not that anyone was paying too much attention to it.

Sean and I got some really fun gifts this year. Mom and Dad bought us an awesome waffle maker, since mine conked out. A month or two ago my coffee maker caught fire, so I was forced to live without coffee for some time. Sean decided to buy me a Keurig coffee maker, and let me tell you, it is amazing! A perfect cup of coffee every time, and you can even make hot chocolate, hot tea, iced coffee, or iced tea. No mess, just drop in a K-cup and add water, done in minutes. Sean had been wanting a sound bar for our TV for years, but we could never afford one. Of course Mom went way overboard this year and bought electronics for everyone. Aunt Rene got a new laptop, Doe (her sister) got a 55 inch LCD TV (which she didn't deserve, but don't get me started on that) and Sean got the sound bar he had been wanting forever. He was blown away by it and so happy! It sounds amazing with movies like Man of Steel. And finally, my big gifts from Sean. Now, since Sean left his job, we had to return all our devices to the company, including my Galaxy S4. Therefore I was left without a phone and tablet. So, he bought me the new iPad Air and an iPhone 5S. Now I have never liked Apple products and therefore have never used one, so this was a big surprise to me. We talked about what I wanted for my next phone. I knew there were no Android phones that I wanted, since all the other manufactures are crappy. I like the Windows phones, but the best phone has the clunky camera on the back and I wouldn't like that, so of corse the next best option was the new iPhone. Which I knew nothing about. Sean bought the tablet first to see if I would like it.  It took me a week or so to get the hang of it, but it grew on me, so he bought me the iPhone and himself the Air. We are both blow away by the quality of the apps compared to Android. I have to say, I'm very impressed with how nice these devices are. It makes Android look like a cheap knock off.

The kids final gifts were the highlight of Christmas. With Moms help, we were able to get all the kids tablets. Here is the video of their reaction....too funny.  I know, we're horrible parents for introducing our kids to tablets, but we thought of it as a tool for their education and a fun way to reward the kids for helping out with chores. Of course there will be limits and heavy lockdown on the internet, but it's also a good way for them to learn technology, which is the future.

Lastly, on a not so pleasant note, as I said at the beginning of my post, Christmas was a bit of a downfall for me. With all my pregnancies,  I have had some problems with Posterior Pelvic Pain. It's very common in pregnancy and I'm sure most of you know exactly what it is. For those who don't, it is a deep, pinching pain in your upper left or right butt. It usually lasts a few seconds and will go away if you change positions. Well, I have a severe case of it that has left me bed ridden. I cannot sit in a chair at all, I cannot twist or turn in any way. And I cannot go up or down the stairs. This pain is so bad it leaves me screaming. When it flares up, I can't move at all. Sean and the kids feel so helpless because there is nothing they can do to help me. Sean has even considered calling the paramedics on my last flare up because I was screaming so much from the pain. I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to go back to the doctor on Monday. Since I can't sit in a chair, how am I going to get in a cab....or out of the cab.....lay on the table for the ultrasound and group b strep test? I of corse have to do all of this alone, which is even scarier to me. What's worse, Sean will be starting his new job next week, so I will be alone with the kids all day and Mom won't be here until the evening of the 21st. This pregnancy can't end soon enough. Thank goodness this is our last pregnancy, my body is telling me NO MORE!

Here are some of the best pictures from Christmas. Hope you had a Happy New Year!
